People love living in Baxter for a variety of reasons, including the great elementary school and the recently built middle school right in their backyard. They also love the public beach located at Whipple Lake and the shopping that’s just minutes away. You’ll find great stores like Walmart, Costco, Target, and Cub Foods.
What about the cost of living in Baxter? The housing prices vary—and if you have any additional questions, I can certainly give you more detailed information. However, here are some good pointers to give you a general idea. First, the average three-bedroom off water home is going to run you roughly $235,000. To purchase a two-bedroom in the same area, expect to pay about $200,000.
If you’re looking to rent in this area, you can spend anywhere between $850 a month on the low end up to $1,800 on the high end. The average three-bedroom single-family home to rent in Baxter is going to be roughly between $1,200 to $1,800 a month. A two-bedroom in the same area is going to run roughly $1,000 up to $1,350 a month to rent. A good rule of thumb when it comes to pricing is that it’s typically more expensive to live in Baxter than Brainerd.

Forestview Middle School was built in 2005 and Baxter Elementary School is currently going through a major, extensive remodel. Families will enjoy sending their kids off to learn, knowing they’re in good hands in modern facilities.
